ABOUT DR. S. M. ZAHIDUL ISLAM

S M Zahidul Islam (Sazal), PT, has been practising Physiotherapy since graduating from Bangladesh Health Professions Institute (BHPI) under the Medicine Faculty of Dhaka University in 2005.

He commenced his professional career at Prescription Point, moving quickly into the area of Orthopaedic and Sports Physiotherapy. Over the next five years, he continued to work with Bangladesh Cricket Board, including the National Cricket League and Bangladesh Cricket League, as well as club cricket with Mohammedan Sporting Club and SK. Jamal Dhanmondi Club. He also worked with Bangladesh Premier League teams including Sylhet Royals, Comilla Victorians and Chittagong Vikings as Team Physiotherapist.

Zahidul continued to pursue further training in Orthopaedic Medicine from Global Cyriax Institute (GCI-Belgium). He completed a Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine in 2007 and Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy (COMT) in 2006. His continuing professional development also includes Mulligan Concept, Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (McKenzie), McConnell Concept, Dry Needling, Australian Taping techniques and Fitness assessment and exercise prescription.

He joined fellowship training at RECOUP, Bangalore and became a certified Ergonomist in 2014. He is continuing his MSc in Musculoskeletal Medicine from Queen Margaret University in Scotland and is commencing a Mentorship followed by a Residency programme from Ola Grimsby Institute, USA, as part of his Doctor in Manual Therapy Program.

These continuous professional development courses and clinical practices have given Zahidul a depth of knowledge and experience in the wide areas of musculoskeletal, spinal and sports injuries.

He assisted Steven De Coninck (Chair, GCI) as an assistant teacher from 2014 to 2017 in Belgium and Bangladesh and has joined the International Teachers Training at De Haan, Belgium, in 2018.

He is now working as the Managing Director, Principle Physio of Movement Solutions Bangladesh, and as Consultant Physiotherapist of Prescription Point Diagnostics and Health Care Limited.
